Hampden Group

After a planned transition programme, First Year Sixth Form students join the Hampden group at Harding House. Students come from a variety of secondary schools, both mainstream and special. They have a range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
In Sixth Form students follow a Foundation Learning curriculum – in their first year students are introduced to a personalised programme with the emphasis on Work Related Learning, Functional Skills (Communication, Number Skills, ICT) and Personal Development. Students access the community, using their learnt skills and knowledge in real settings. All students’ work and progress is accredited and certificated by OCR on the National Skills Profile and Accreditation for Life and Living schemes at Entry Level.
Students work with a range of partners in the community – Aylesbury Grammar School, the High School, Connexions etc. Hampden students have the opportunity to access a range of sporting and fitness activities through both taster sessions and short courses such as in Street Dance.
Students start to compile their Records of Achievement and Life Stories that they will ultimately take with them when they leave school. They also set personal IEP targets and evaluate their progress. Students produce PowerPoint presentations and Student Contributions for their first Annual Reviews at Harding House.

Currently there are 5 year 12 students in the Hampden Group with 1 Teacher and 1 Learning Support Assistant.
