The Walton Group is currently run as a First and Second Year group at Harding House.
Sixth Form students follow a Foundation Learning curriculum with a personalised programme with the emphasis on Work Related Learning, particularly mini enterprise, Functional Skills (Communication, Number Skills, ICT) and Personal Development. Walton students run a school Tuck Shop focusing on money handling skills. For students in the Walton group the emphasis is on practical activities with support to generalise and use their skills in the community. Vocational Skills modules have a high level of community content – Sports and Leisure, World of Work job roles and work place research etc. Local bus journeys are undertaken by the Walton group to explore community facilities -bowling at High Wycombe, Healthy Living Café etc. All students’ work is accredited and certificated by OCR on the National Skills Profile, Accreditation for Life and Living and Life and Living Skills schemes at Entry Level.
Students have participated in sports sessions at local secondary schools including boccia, curling, goal ball, sports skills and fitness circuits. Students also take part in weekly dance and drama sessions with the Jig Saw theatre group at the Queen’s Park Theatre – working on their Performing Arts and building on students’ communication and social skills. Students also participate in street dance and orienteering sessions led by external approved coaches contributing to their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.
Students undertake work experience placements across the Federation and do Horticulture at Booker Park School sensory garden and the school allotment. Walton group students have the opportunity to access Rebound Therapy.
